I have to admit, I really like the new Silly Fools sound. I think Rim was a good addition to the band, and I love the way they’ve taken their sound back to their original 90s style. I like the personas they’ve given themselves with the steampunk masks, and even though the lyrics are your average you’re-too-good-for-me-but-I-want-you-anyway lyrics, I like the direction the music video pulls it, with Rim fidgeting and biting his lip not because he’s attracted to the girls, but because he wants to be among them and recognized by them, which he shows by finally shoving them out of the way, donning a dress and makeup, and flaunting it. I must ask, I don’t know much about Rim, was this just an act for the music video to give an un-romantic twist to the lyrics, or is Rim pretty gender-fluid and this is him letting his personality shine through in Silly Fools? Either way, Silly Fools are 2 for 2 in their comeback for me.
