Deungdutjai

Title: อยู่คนเดียว / Yoo Kon Diao (Being Alone)
English Title: “Island”
Artist: The Jukks
Album: Clips
Year: 2017

Yoo kon diao gor dai
Being alone is fine
Mai hen dtaung jai salai
I don’t see why my heart must be shattered
Kae tur ting gun
You just dumped me

Pahp baht dtah took wun
Images burn my eyes every day
Kon nohn gor jup meu gun
Those people holding hands
Kon nee gor mah duay gun
These people out together

Dtae mai koey ja ngao
But I’ll never be lonely
Pror rao kooey gup fah
Because I talk with the sky
Gup num gup lom gup fon gor dai
With the water, with the wind, with the rain, it’s fine
Mai hen dtaung care arai mai care
I don’t see why I should care about anything, I don’t care

Yoo kon diao mai dtai
Being alone won’t kill me
Mai hen dtaung jai salai kae tur ting rao
I don’t see why my heart has to shatter, you just dumped me
Mai mee tur gor ao cheewit kae pian hiao chao
Without you, it’s okay, my life has just withered
Peuan tae gor mee kae ngao
My shadow is my only true friend

(*,*)

Kae bauk dtua eng mai ngao mai bpen rai
I just tell myself that I’m not lonely, it’s okay
Mai dtaung mee kon nai sai jai gor dai
I don’t need anyone paying attention to me, it’s fine
I don’t see why I should care about anything, I don’t see why I should care
Mai hen dtaung care arai mai care
I don’t see why I should care about anything, I don’t care

The Jukk’s second single from their newest album, this is a nice nonchalant song, reminding us how we sometimes lie to ourselves to try to make ourselves believe we’re over a breakup and pretend we aren’t bothered by it. The music video continues the story of the dog from the previous one for their song “Fact,” who is now living on the streets and dealing with catching his girlfriend cheating with another dog. I love the character design of the dog and the Jukk’s personas, and I love the whole style of these music videos a lot.
